CD’s from the late 80’s and early 90’s to dig out and listen to.

Hi everyone, today on my arts and entertainment blog I thought we’d look at something a little bit different, Music.  I love music but other than my one article on Lil Dicky I haven’t really divulged into my music taste.

Music from your teen years will always bring up fond memories and exclamations that music has never been the same since.  And if you were born in the mid 70’s then it’s safe to say there is some truth to that statement.  From the punk rock of the 70’s to the glam metal of the late 80’s, music has definitely struggled at times.  But the heavy metal and grunge of the late 80’s and early 90’s is where music really came into it’s own.  There are some bands, and some albums, that are definitely left buried in the past, but these next three should be revived and find a new place in your heart, cd player and driving playlist.

Nirvana - Bleach LP

Released in 1989, and well received by critics, Bleach failed to chart on release and has failed to chart in the hearts of their fans.  However, given a second chance Bleach has some stand out songs and whilst not quite of the same level as Nevermind it shows the roots of Nirvana's musical history. Songs to listen out for include; School, with its heavier sound and minimalistic lyrics  Whilst the unreal bass sound throughout ‘Blew’ should appeal to anyone who appreciates a good beat.

I found a great second hand copy of Bleach from for an amazingly low price.

Metallica - The Black Album

One of the biggest selling albums of all time, Metallica’s self titled album is far more well known by The Black Album.  Their fifth studio album marked a change in their direction, away from the thrash heavy metal of the 80’s and more melodic and lyrical allowing them to reach a much larger audience than ever before.  Songs such as Enter Sandman, The Unforgiven and Nothing Else Matters are quite possibly some of the best known and most loved Metallica songs.  If you’re not lucky enough to have a copy hidden away somewhere then you can find second hand and used copies.  Find the Metallica Black Album for sale on used classified ads site such as; where I bought my album.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik

Another 1991 release, and again a stray from the heavy, metal vibe portrayed by the band in the 80’s.  Blood Sugar Sex Magik is commonly referred to as the best Red Hot Chili Pepper album and for good reason.  And with hit singles such as Give It Away and Under The Bridge it's no wonder they have remained as big at the end of the decade as they did at the start.

There are some great used copies for sale at;
